28. Cornelius⁶ VOORHEES (John⁵ VOORHIES, Coert⁴ VANVOORHEES, Cornelis Coerte³, Coert Stevense², Steven Coerte¹) was born in Bedminster, Somerset, New Jersey 18 Dec 1755. Cornelius died 6 Jan 1835 in Hanover Cem, Morris, New Jersey, at 79 years of age.

He married twice. He married Mary (Polly) COOPER in Whippaney, Morris, New Jersey, 10 May 1780. Mary was born 1759. Mary died 11 Nov 1811 in Whippaney, Morris, New Jersey. He married Phebe VanDoren LEWIS 1 Oct 1813.

Cornelius VOORHEES and Mary (Polly) COOPER had the following children:

• 32 i. Elizabeth⁷ VOORHEES was born in Whippaney, Morris, New Jersey 22 May 1781. Elizabeth died 24 Sep 1832 in Hutsonville, Crawford, Ill, at 51 years of age. She married Aaron Lindsley BALL 11 Mar 1799.

• 33 ii. William VOORHEES was born in New Jersey 16 May 1783. William died 17 Feb 1813 at 29 years of age. He married Jemina TUTTLE 19 Nov 1807.

• 34 iii. Electa VOORHEES was born 19 May 1787. Electa died 14 May 1856 at 68 years of age. She married Lewis FREEMAN in 1st Presb Church, Union Co. New Jersey, 27 Jan 1807.

• 35 iv. Phebe VOORHEES was born Feb 1789. Phebe died 20 Dec 1809 in Hanover Cem, Morris, New Jersey.

• 36 v. Jacob VOORHEES was born 19 Jun 1794.

• 37 vi. Mahlon VOORHEES was born in New Jersey 29 Mar 1797. Mahlon died 6 Feb 1848 in New Jersey, at 50 years of age. He married Elizabeth TUTTLE 12 May 1824.

• + 38 vii. John Newton VOORHIES was born 25 Nov 1800.
